The future of automobility: insights from transport research
Themes: Automotive, Foam structure
People living in Germany use cars for more than half of their trips. The number of cars in Germany also is still growing: In January 2019, 49 million passenger cars were registered, 6 million more than in 2009. These figures alone show that cars are of great importance for mobility. Various technologies and mobility concepts are currently being developed and studied that have the potential to change our car ownership decisions and car usage decisions. This has an impact on energy consumption and emissions from transport. Examples include automated driving, electric mobility, regenerative fuels, sector coupling of energy and transport and sharing concepts. This presentation will discuss the topic from a transport research perspective.
