They are fast, futuristic and made of composites: "Sea Bubbles" are the names of the hydrogen-powered water taxis developed by the Frenchman Alain Thébault together with the Swede Anders Bringdal. The name "Bubbles" is to be taken quite literally and refers to the drop shape of the vehicle. In addition to its special shape, it is also impressive for its environmental friendliness, because the Sea Bubbles float emission-free on foils on stilts half a meter above the water.

On June 1, the network of the Composites Germany trade association was expanded by the accession of Leichtbau Baden-Wuerttemberg (Leichtbau BW). "What belongs together comes together. Lightweight construction as a game changer technology will continue to gain in importance, also taking into account current climate protection efforts. New name, new concept and a new face: Composites for Europe, previously COMPOSITES EUROPE, is now also re-pitching itself in personnel terms. Dr. Ing. Hans-Christian Früh will become the new Project Manager of Composites for Europe, to be held as a business summit for composites in Stuttgart from 10 to 12 November. The 35-year old succeeds Daniel Schäfer who will rise to another professional challenge.

With over 415 participants, the world's largest business meeting on industrial hemp and cannabis, the EIHA Hemp Conference, ended in Cologne in 2019. This year, due to the Corona Pandemic, it will take place completely online from 16-17 June 2020 for the first time. Experts from all over the world will come together to discuss the latest developments for hemp applications, such as fibres, shives, seeds, oil and CBD. Organizer is the nova-Institut, a cooperation partner of Composites for Europe.

Composites for Europe and Leichtbau BW, together with the VDMA Working Group on Hybrid Lightweight Construction Technologies and the AVK, are joining forces in a long-term cooperation and creating synergies for all players in the lightweight construction sector. This year, the Business Summit for Composite Materials, Composites for Europe, and the Technology Day Lightweight Construction Innovation Camp are being held in parallel for the first time, making Stuttgart the industry's place to be in the week from 9 to 12 November.
