Coriolis Composites is a specialist in the implementation of composite manufacturing solutions. Coriolis Composites develops, builds and markets robotic cells for automated fiber placement (AFP) using a standard robot enabling the laying of continuous or discontinuous fibers, in all directions and on complex geometrical surfaces. The product portfolio is enriched by two inhouse developed software solutions (CATFiber (fully integrated into CATIA / DELMIA or SIEMENSNX) and CADFiber (standalone version)) to design parts with fiber placement and to program automated fiber placement cells. To complete the customer oriented approach, Coriolis offers services like: the composite center (feasibility studies, performance validation, production ramp-up and design optimization) and the customer service (after-sales service, training, maintenance, spare parts and trouble shooting).
The objective is to develop and supply automated solutions for the manufacture of composite parts. The aim is to enhance mechanical performance thanks to low costs and an energy efficient, reliable technology that enables layup using a variety of composite materials. Based around this expertise, the company has aggregated its robotic competences which enable it to offer exclusive equipment conceived and developed for the composites industry.
A precursor and holder of many patents in material layup, Coriolis Composites is a key player in the composites industry: Its robotic solutions are known for the implementation of thermoset and thermoplastic fibers as well as dry fibers for making RTM preforms. A specific characteristic ‘three in one’ unique in the world of composites.
The portfolio of AFP solutions ranges from robot-based, highly flexible and compact machines to gantry-based machines offering high speed and high productivity.
Our flagship model, the C1, was the first robot AFP solution to comply with aerospace standards and is to date the reference in automated fiber placement. Its unique fiber guiding system and compact head design offer superior capabilities to lay up complex concave and convex parts. This know-how and expertise were transferred to our new gantry-based machines, C3 and notably C5 with its unique modular head design.
Today, in addition to its head office near Lorient (FRA), it has five other sites in Augsburg (GER), Bristol (U.K), Montreal (CAN), Seattle (U.S.A.), Shanghai (China). The company has 156 employees and achieved a turnover of € 27.7 million in 2018, of which 69% was through exports.
Coriolis Group, parent company of Coriolis Composites, announced its acquisition of a 100% stake in the French group MF TECH, a leader in composite filament winding, in July 2018. With this first external growth operation, Coriolis Composites extends its expertise in industrial robotics. The new organisation totals 177 employees with an annual revenue approaching 30 million euros.

After developing the ‘Coriolis C1’, the first robot AFP solution to comply with aerospace standards, ‘Coriolis C2’, a high speed bidirectional fiber placement robot and ‘Coriolis Csolo’, a compact fiber placement robot, we are launching our latest automated fiber placement solution: the ‘Coriolis C5’, a fiber placement dockable head for slightly curved parts.
