FAGOR Arrasate: MBHA commissions an HCL press from Fagor Arrasate

MBHA, the company specialised in manufacturing springs for vehicles, has commissioned an HCL press from Fagor Arrasate to produce structural parts for the automotive sector. This 1500-tonne ‘short stroke’ press is equipped with the latest technology and has been adapted to meet the client’s needs, including active parallelism control to ensure the quality and characteristics of the parts required by the automotive sector.
The new HCL (Hydraulic Composite Lightweight) concept developed by Fagor Arrasate, which has been producing composite material forming installations for more than three decades now, is especially designed for composites and is extremely versatile, as it offers an important reduction in the press height as compared to conventional presses, thanks to its slimmer, but equally sturdy structure.
Among its advantages are its reduced level of energy consumption, shorter response times in the pressurisation of the main cylinder chamber, superb integrated parallelism control on the platen and warp control between the platen and the slide for optimal raw material use.
The many features it offers attracted the attention of MBHA, which will have an HCL press up and running at its facilities early next year. ‘To take the step up to this technology, we have placed our trust in Fagor Arrasate because of their technological leadership and the customisation of their solutions, which meet our demands’, the company notes.
Annual meeting of AZL partners
In other news, the cooperative integrated within the MONDRAGÓN Corporation successfully demonstrated its offer of high production lines for SMC, with turnkey solutions at the fourth annual meeting of AZL partners held 21 and 22 June at the association’s headquarters in Aache, Germany. Fagor Arrasate Business Unit Manager Estibalitz Arregi gave a talk that sparked interest among the 130 representatives of the more than 80 companies from 21
countries and nine affiliated institutes that attended the annual meeting of this association, founded in 2012 as a service provider in association with companies in the field of technologies to produce lightweight materials.
Arregi demonstrated the advantages of the HCL ‘short stroke’ press through a comparison with a traditional press. He also presented an SMC uncoiler and a hydraulic press that works automatically in a robotic cell within the vast range of technology offered by Fagor Arrasate, with automated solutions that increase productivity by limiting line shutdowns and reduce the final part production cost.
‘It was a very interesting presentation in order to produce very large volume parts with SMC technology automatically and with greater productivity’, highlighted Michael Effing, one of the representatives of the AZL management team. Fagor Arrasate has been a member of this association for the past three years and now, given the satisfaction with the work it does, it has decided to prolong its membership for another three years.
Composites Trade Fair in Stuttgart
Fagor Arrasate will once again be present for the third time at the European Trade Fair & Forum for Composites, Technology and Applications in Stuttgart, Germany, which will bring together companies from the entire value chain in the automotive sector on 19 to 21 September. This important event, presenting the latest technological developments in composite materials, attracts more than 10,000 professional visitors and is scheduled to have more than 400 exhibitors from companies from 25 countries.
Fagor Arrasate has high expectations for this trade fair, at which it intends to repeat the success of the two previous editions and consolidate its position in Europe. The delegation travelling to Stuttgart will show off the latest technological advances at the stand set up in sector four, space C07 and will hold meetings with different companies in order to win new clients. To do this, it will insist on two key factors it is known for: technological eadership and the customisation of processes adapted to the needs of the client.
