SABIC presents its approaches to mass production of thermoplastic composites, including its proprietary tape impregnation technology HPFIT™, engineering capabilities and process innovations with the groundbreaking Digital Composites Manufacturing Line.
In collaboration with Airborne, and with support from Siemens and Kuka Technologies, the completion of the pilot phase for the world's first automated digital system for fast, large-scale laminate manufacturing using SABIC´s continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites tapes is a major milestone for SABIC.
The Digital Composites Manufacturing Line uses cutting-edge digital technologies, including robotics, to produce customized laminates while reducing cycle times and costs. SABIC and Airborne are in transition to mass production.
To optimize the transition to composite materials, SABIC also offers customers a wide range of services including simulation-based component and laminate design and consulting for hybrid molding processes. SABIC can customize its composite tapes and laminates to meet customer requirements. It is important that SABIC can use its wealth of experience in injection molding to help customers avoid deformation, which is a common issue when modifying the design, material selection and processing of components.
