Smart ski roller - radius pultrusion in application

The poster will present a ski roller that was developed in the joint project "SmartFrame+" funded by the BMBF. Pultrusion is used to produce a specially designed geometry with low-cost glass fibers and high-performance carbon fibers at the particularly stressed areas. The arrangement of glass and carbon fibers was defined by using FEM simulations in order to ensure the highest possible degree of lightweight construction with simultaneous cost-effectiveness. A further special feature of the ski roller are integrated sensors, which give the (hobby-)athlete a feedback about his training. By using radius pultrusion, in which the dry fibers and semi-finished products run through an impregnating bath and then harden in the shaping tool, the summer ski achieves increased ground clearance. This results in a springy effect - especially compared to conventional ski rollers, the feeling becomes much more similar to winter skiing.
