(Online) conference for industrial hemp focuses on biocomposites
With over 415 participants, the world's largest business meeting on industrial hemp and cannabis, the EIHA Hemp Conference, ended in Cologne in 2019. This year, due to the Corona Pandemic, it will take place completely online from 16-17 June 2020 for the first time. Experts from all over the world will come together to discuss the latest developments for hemp applications, such as fibres, shives, seeds, oil and CBD. Organizer is the nova-Institut, a cooperation partner of Composites for Europe.
Sustainable biocomposites form a central discussion thread in the conference programme. The term "biocomposites" covers all composite materials that are produced entirely or to a large extent from biomass. The basic material hemp is used in many areas of application, for example in the construction industry, lightweight construction and packaging. However, the full potential of biocomposites is far from being exhausted. At the Composites for Europe, the "Bio-Based Pavilion" will also focus on this topic with the support of the nova-Institut. After all, sustainability is one of the core concerns of the Business Summit for Composites.
