Dear Madam or Sir.

25 percent more exhibition area and 20 percent growth in exhibitor numbers – the COMPOSITES EUROPE 2011 experiences a further boost and looks set for a successful event. More than 350 international exhibitors from Europe, Asia and North America have announced their participation at Germany’s largest trade fair for composite materials.

COMPOSITES EUROPE as the central laboratory for the composites industry demonstrates its productivity. This year COMPOSITES EUROPE especially focuses on the themes of automation, processing techniques and mass applications.

The composites market offers a great potential but also requires new ideas and technical solutions. COMPOSITES EUROPE 2011 offers you many impulses.

See you in Stuttgart

Yours

Lamborghini

Aventador the latest Lamborghini sports car was presented at the Genever Motor Show in March 2011. One of the essential characteristics of the Aventator is the carbon fibre technology which is intensively used in the entire vehicle. A special characteristic is the complete Monocoque out of carbon fibre. The Italian automobile manufacturer will take part at this year´s COMPOSITES EUROPE with several lectures in the COMPOSITES Forum about the „Aventador monocoque repair concept“ presented by Luciano De Oto. The session will be closed with a Get-together on site.

Cluster New Materials – Technologies for tomorrow’s innovations

The Cluster New Materials, managed by Bayern Innovativ in Nuremberg, is the Bavarian networking platform for innovations with new materials. We aim at strengthening the interconnections between Bavarian key players in industry and sciences – from materials development and processing up to the application of new materials in the manufacturing of components. Therefore a Bavarian-wide constantly updated und pro-actively organized platform for information and communication was established in close cooperation with regional material-focused networks, other cluster platforms. Ranging from lightweight construction metals via fiber reinforced materials to technical textiles, Bavarian communities are formed. With cluster-meetings at companies or institutes and cluster-workshops dealing with specific topics, the Cluster New Materials brings together decision makers and key members of the materials business and enables purposeful exchange of information and experiences. By way of this dynamic dialog of all participants, cooperative projects are formed, which are supported and accompanied by the management of the Cluster New Materials.

The VAP® Alliance is growing: Joint showing on VAP® Vacuum Assisted Process at Composites Europe 2011

Reinforced plastics

Materials key to meeting fuel efficiency regulations
Environmental regulations calling for increased fuel efficiency and reduced emissions are influencing the design of almost every vehicle component. Lightweight structural materials will play an important role in meeting these challenges, alongside efforts to downsize engines and add power-boost technologies and the development of hybrid and electric powertrains. Opportunities for composites can be found in most areas of the car – including high temperature and corrosion resistant engineering thermoplastics for the engine compartment, SMC body panels, and carbon fibre reinforced plastic monocoques. Here are a few recent developments in automotive composites

US spends $175 million on advanced vehicle R&D
The US Department of Energy has announced more than US$175 million over the next 3-5 years to accelerate the development and deployment of advanced vehicle technologies. The funding will support innovations throughout the vehicle, including lightweight materials.
